Our first stop will be 38 km, heading south, we find the town of Toconao, famous for its constructions in stone liparite. After this, we continue towards Laguna Chaxa, a National Reserve located in the Atacama Salt Flat. This lagoon is surrounded by crusts of salt and gypsum produced by the evaporation of underground salt water. In this environment we can see the flamingos that inhabit the Salt Flat, along with other species of birds.
We continue along the route that leads to Argentina (Paso Sico) until the diversion to the Miscanti and Miñiques Lagoons, part of the Flamingos National Reserve (4,300 m.s.n.m.). Then we will head towards the Red Stones a landscape full of reddish peaks that owe their tonality to the oxidation of iron. In this sector is also the Hot Water Salt Flat, a lagoon with an intense green color, one of the most beautiful places of San Pedro de Atacama. Breakfast and lunch will be at a restaurant in the village of Socaire.
